Position: Pastoral Intern in Children's Ministries

Peoples Gospel Church (PGC), a member of Associated Gospel Churches of Canada, is looking for a children's pastoral intern.

PGC is blessed to have a vibrant and growing family congregation where we meet in Peoples Christian Academy (Markham) every Sunday. Though we are a majority ethnic Chinese church, we have a vibrant English congregation with a healthy children’s ministry.

Our current children’s ministry has a great team of volunteers under the leadership of children committee and the existing children pastor. The existing children's pastor is willing to build up and mentor a new pastoral intern and expanding her pastoral care to parents and families.

We are looking for a children pastoral intern who would add to our ministry team. Our goal is to mentor and develop this person to become a full time children’s pastor or children’s ministry director. The right candidate can start on a part-time basis, then gradually becoming a full time position as he or she grows.

We seek to deepen children’s spirituality and helping parents to grow together. We also long empower parents for intergenerational faith and church life. We seek to build up children with Bible based, gospel centered and loving environment so that children are embraced and nurtured.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a vivid and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ.
  2. Faith and doctrine should align with our church's statement of faith
  3. Theological training background is preferred: currently attending or graduated from Bible college or seminary student.
  4. Proven 3-5 years’ ministry experience in children’s ministry is required. The right candidate must show passion in becoming a children’s pastor or children’s ministry director for next generation’s faith development and ministry
  5. Love for people. Pleasant in character, and a great communicator to parents and children.
  6. Experience in ministering to kids with loving care that reflects genuine and pure love of God. Showing a caring heart to connect with parents, as well as building youth volunteers who serves children in the team.
  7. Great team player, motivated, organized, excellent communication skills
  8. Mature character that demonstrates growing and healthy self-management
  9. Cantonese speaking is an asset for communicating with parents but not required

Responsibilities:

  1. Under the mentoring and supervision of existing children and family pastor, learn to lead and build up children through our ministries.
  2. Attend children ministry’s committee meeting monthly, creatively setup goal and action plans to reach and teach children for the gospel and in God’s words.
  3. Getting to know children and their family. Pray for the families and plan to build up their spirituality.
  4. Connect with parents, empowering them with meaningful resources that align with Sunday’s curriculum and ministry
  5. Lead children’s worship and teach in children’s ministry.
  6. Observe and participate in team meeting.
  7. May involve and participate in summer camp ministries with adjusted hours.
  8. Welcome new children and family by connecting them to church’s environment
